Seven plant extracts from four continents

Vitalplant’s Libido F Complex combines seven plant extracts drawn from very different botanical traditions. The daily dose of two capsules provides 935 mg of plant extracts.

The seven extracts

Shatavari, 150 mg per capsule. Asparagus racemosus belongs to the asparagus family and comes from India and Sri Lanka. The root is used.

Maca, 100 mg, from the Andes of Peru, and pomegranate, 62.5 mg, from Western Asia, where the fruit has been cultivated for thousands of years.

Dong Quai, 50 mg. Angelica sinensis is an umbellifer from China, botanically related to European angelica. Also included are damiana leaf, 50 mg, from Central America and fenugreek seed, 50 mg, from the Mediterranean region.

Saffron, 5 mg, as SAFFR'ACTIV®. A trademarked extract. Saffron consists of the dried stigmas of the crocus, which are hand-picked. It takes around 150,000 flowers to make one kilogram, which makes saffron the world's most expensive spice.

Why the amount of saffron seems so small

5 mg sounds small next to 150 mg of Shatavari. However, amounts in this range are common for standardized saffron extracts, because the raw material is highly concentrated and extremely valuable.

There are no authorized health claims for the seven plant extracts. That is why we specify the amount, origin, and standardization. Libido F Complex complements a varied and balanced diet.

Libido F Complex capsules: composition and quality

The formula consists of eight components: the seven extracts and the capsule shell made of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose. No fillers, no anti-caking agents, no colorants. The product is vegan and gluten-free, filled in amber glass. Every batch is tested for heavy metals by an independent laboratory.

Behind Vitalplant is Christian Lazar, a licensed pharmacist with over 35 years of professional experience at Stern Pharmacy.

How saffron quality is measured

Saffron has its own international standard, which defines three key figures. Crocin stands for color strength, picrocrocin for the bitter taste, and safranal for the aroma. Measurement is based on how strongly a solution absorbs light of a specific wavelength, and this determines the trade grade.

This is not an end in itself: saffron is one of the most frequently adulterated spices of all. It is often mixed with safflower, turmeric, or colored corn silk, and fortifying it with sugar or salt solutions is also well known. With a standardized extract such as SAFFR'ACTIV®, the key values are available for each batch.

Shatavari is an asparagus

Asparagus racemosus belongs to the same genus as field-grown garden asparagus. Instead of thick spears, however, it forms a climbing, thorny shrub with fine, needle-like structures that look like leaves but are botanically modified shoots.

The tuberous storage roots are used, and one plant produces many of them; the name can be translated as one hundred roots. Harvesting takes place after several years, after which the roots are peeled, cut, and dried.

Fenugreek smells like maple syrup

Trigonella foenum-graecum is a legume, and its species name means Greek hay. The seeds' distinctive smell comes from a single compound called sotolon, which also gives maple syrup its aroma and creates the base note in curry blends.

Sotolon is extremely aromatic and is partly excreted unchanged. After eating larger amounts of fenugreek, sweat or urine may therefore smell like maple syrup or curry for a while. This is harmless, but surprising if you are not expecting it.

Two lesser-known plants

Angelica sinensis, sold as Dong Quai, is an umbellifer and is therefore related to carrot, celery, and the European angelica. It is cultivated in the mountain regions of China; the root is harvested in autumn of the third year, after which it is dried over smoke or warm air.

Damiana, Turnera diffusa, is a small, aromatic shrub from Mexico and Central America, and its leaves are used. According to today’s botanical classification, it belongs to the passionflower family and is therefore a distant relative of the passionflower.

Our Libido F Complex capsules are manufactured to the highest quality standards and independently tested for heavy metals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Take 2 capsules daily whole with enough liquid with a meal. You can take both together or split them between two meals. A regular time helps more than the exact hour.

Per capsule: 150 mg shatavari extract, 100 mg maca extract, 62.5 mg pomegranate extract, 50 mg dong quai extract, 50 mg damiana leaf extract, 50 mg fenugreek seed extract, and 5 mg saffron extract as SAFFR-ACTIV. All seven are listed with their individual amounts; there is no combined item.

Asparagus racemosus is a wild asparagus and is therefore actually related to the edible asparagus. The climbing plant grows in India, Sri Lanka, and the Himalayan foothills. The root tubers are used; a single plant can produce dozens of them, which is also what the Sanskrit name refers to. At 150 mg per capsule, Shatavari is the largest ingredient by quantity.

Because saffron is the most expensive spice in the world. Only the three stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower are harvested, and they must be picked by hand. Depending on the source, one gram of saffron requires 150 to 200 flowers. The extract in this formula is a registered branded ingredient called SAFFR-ACTIV with a defined manufacturing process.

Three plants from three continents. Maca, Lepidium meyenii, is a cruciferous plant from the Peruvian Andes that grows at altitudes above 4,000 meters and is related to radishes and cress. Dong Quai, Angelica sinensis, is an umbellifer from China, related to our angelica. Damiana, Turnera diffusa, is a small shrub from Central America, from which the leaves are used.

Hardly. We also offer maca as a standalone product in capsule and powder form, and saffron is also included in Luna Balance. Shatavari, dong quai, damiana, and pomegranate are not found in any of our other products. Fenugreek is included in the organic men's tea and the organic night tea.

With a formula made from seven plant extracts, one thing is especially important: during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, and if you take medication regularly, the decision should be left to a professional. Discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist beforehand. This product is not intended for children.

The bottle contains 120 capsules and, at two capsules a day, lasts 60 days, or two months. Each capsule contains the seven extracts and the hydroxypropyl methylcellulose shell, nothing else. Bottled in amber glass; store in a cool, dry place.
